This is a somewhat tweaked and prettified version of the Digital Multiplex layout for Livejournal, which I've now tweaked some more and adapted for Dreamwidth.

Larger screenshot | Live preview

  • This is not a theme for an existing DW layout, it's a new layout
  • and by "new" I mean "adapted from the Digital Multiplex layout from Livejournal"; so I have not designed the layout from scratch, just tried to clean it up/prettify it/make it more customizable/make it work on DW
  • colours, overall width, sidebar width, sidebar arrangement, fonts, font sizes and some text can be changed via the customization wizard
  • unfortunately the link to the reading page still says "Friends" but when I figure out how to change that I'll update this entry with an edit
  • I am a bit of a newbie at this so if you have problems or want something altered I'll do my best but can't promise anything :(
  • credit is nice but not compulsory? it's not like I built it from scratch, so.

Instructions:

1. Go to the Your Layers page. Under Create Layer - Create a Top-Level Layer, select Type: Layout and Core Version:1 from the drop-down menus. Click Create.

2. After you click Create, the new layer with the name (none) should be in your list of layers. Click the edit button next to it.

3. Go to http://gostak.info/dreamwidthmultiplex.txt and select all of the text.

4. Paste this text into the large text box on the screen, replacing the two lines that are already there. Click Save & Compile.

5. Go back to the Select New Theme page, and in the menu on the left-hand side, click on Your Custom Layers. Click on the Apply Button under "Dreamwidth Multiplex".

6. You can now select custom colours and other layout options via the wizard - click on Customize Your Theme to get there.

Awesome! I always liked how structured the layout is, and it was quite easy to add. Have changed the colors a bit and I'm now using it for my community.

Thanks for the great layout! I'm using it now and I love it.

A couple of questions: is there any way to leave out the heading bar with the words "About" and the page name? Also, is it possible to have a larger font in the page summary, links etc. sidebar? Thanks in advance if you have time to answer my questions!
